Read below to find out more about some of the different activities we have been getting up to; from sporting and musical activities, to visitors and 'wow' days. We are looking forward to helping our children 'explore and grow' further in 2023-24.

  • Spotlight Dance

    Thu 27 Mar 2014
Most of our KS2 children took part in our Spotlight Dance this year. 'Kung Fu Fighting' was the theme this year, and we are very grateful for the loan of our costumes. The children really looked the part in their martial arts tops, and Elijah even volunteered to dress up as Kung Fu Panda! The Spotlight Show this year was split into three shorter shows, and we were in the second performance each night. The children danced brilliantly and their behaviour backstage was exemplary. We may have been the only school where some children asked to listen to their teacher reading them a story while waiting for their turn to dance! Many thanks to all those parents who made the effort to transport their children over to Uppingham Theatre for both nights.
  • Recorders Through the Ages

    Tue 25 Mar 2014
It is always a delight to welcome members of the community into the school. Today we were visited by Clare and Peter Hitchcox, who brought some of their recorders to share with us. The children listened beautifully and enjoyed listening to the sounds the different recorders made, as well as how the music written for recorder has changed over the centuries. We only have 4 notes at present in our recorder playing - but maybe one day one of us will be in our local primary school demonstrating our skill! Many thanks to Clare and Peter for giving up their time.
  • Sports Relief

    Fri 21 Mar 2014

Wow! At current counting, we have raised over £250 for Sports Relief. Mrs Davis set us a target of £100 and we surpassed all her expectations! Every child took part in our 'lap challenge' of the field. Everyone completed at least 10 laps. Our highest lap count was over 50; well done Ben! What a great selection of pyjamas and onesies you have as well!

  • Life Education Van Visit

    Mon 17 Mar 2014
It was lovely to have the Life Education Van visit us here at Exton. All the children had the opportunity to visit the van and take part in some activities looking at keeping ourselves healthy and well.
  • Recorder Celebration Day

    Thu 13 Mar 2014
250 primary school recorder players playing together have to be heard to be believed! We joined up with 8 other primary schools in Rutland to play together. Last year we were a pilot recorder school for the Rutland Music Hub. We now all learn recorder at KS2 and we were delighted to join with other schools to meet Sarah Watts, who wrote the book we learn from, and to play some of her pieces together with her conducting. We were able to play with a live band, including a sousaphone! As ever, the children were a credit to the school and were a delight to be with. Their singing and playing was fantastic too!
  • Tag Rugby

    Wed 12 Mar 2014

A fantastic day was had by all in the sunshine at the tag rugby competition. See the pictures in the gallery section.
