  • Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

    Fri 27 May 2022 M Davis

On Friday 27th May we held our celebrations for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee as we broke up for the holiday.

The children spent the morning creating delicious items to share at our Jubilee picnic in the afternoon. Aqua class were in charge of crudities, Teal class made the sandwiches, and Navy and Cobalt classes were in charge of cakes. We were very lucky to have many generous donations from parents as well to ensure we had a fantastic feast!

The school had been well decorated with bunting made by the children to celebrate the Queen's 70 Years on the throne.

Our celebration afternoon began in the hall, where we shared two songs - 'Everywhere Around Me' and 'Children of the World' with our special visitor, Dr Sarah Furness, the Lord Lieutenant of Rutland. She shared with us her experience of meeting the queen, and then joined us for our picnic in the playground.

Sandwiches, Crudities, cakes and accompanying food was all declared delicious and a good time was had by all!

A recording of 'Children of the World' can be found in the 'about our school' section of the website.

  • RLT Dance Festival

    Wed 25 May 2022 M Davis

Our Year 4, 5 and 6 children all did a super job at the RLT Dance Festival on Wednesday night.

After practising in our PE sessions, almost all of our Year 4,5,6 children represented the school and performed an amazing dance as part of the RLT Dance Festival. Not only did we get the opportunity to perform at Catmose theatre, but we also got the opportunity to see the dances from other schools and share in their hard work too.

The children were not only fantastic in their performance, but also in the way they kept so quiet backstage! What superstars!

Parents can see a film of the dance on ClassDojo.

  • Visit to the Church

    Wed 25 May 2022 M Davis

As part of their learning in RE, Aqua class enjoyed a visit up to Exton church yesterday. We had learnt about the key parts of a Christian church in our lesson the previous week, and went to see how many of these we could spot!

The children enjoyed finding the font, pulpit, lectern, altar and cross. We also looked at the stained glass windows and the monuments inside the church. The children were great detectives and asked lots of questions about other things they spotted, such as the churchwarden's staffs and the door at the side of the sanctuary.

Although the children are used to visiting the church for our end of term services, they enjoyed the opportunity to explore their surroundings and take their time to really look at the building. We even learnt that it is important to look up when we visit places - we found some beautiful banners!
