Read below to find out more about some of the different activities we have been getting up to; from sporting and musical activities, to visitors and 'wow' days. We are looking forward to helping our children 'explore and grow' further in 2023-24.

  • Christmas Performances

    Thu 15 Dec 2022 M Davis

This week saw four amazing performances by the children over two days.

Aqua and Teal classes joined forces to perform our nativity for this year 'A Midwife Crisis' - a retelling of the nativity story from the point of view of the local midwife and her donkey. The children were amazing in how well they performed, both in singing and dancing, and in their acting on stage. What a triumph!

Each nativity performance was followed by our traditional Exton pantomime - performed by Cobalt and Navy Classes. This year the pantomime was Sleeping Beauty. The older children always rise to the occasion (oh yes they do!) and it was lovely to see everyone putting their best comedic skills to the fore as they shared some traditional pantomime banter. As always, the singing was exemplary and the children shared some great dancing too. Well done to all involved!

  • Christmas in a Day

    Thu 15 Dec 2022 M Davis

Today was our traditional Exton and Greetham 'Christmas in a Day'. We started the day by climbing onto a coach to visit the churching Greetham for our Christmas Service. The older children shared the story of the nativity, interspersed with some of our favourite Christmas carols. This included what is now becoming a firm favourite 'sheep, sheep, sheep'; Hark the Herald with the descant for the last verse; and asking all the adults to join in with singing 'The Holly and the Ivy' in canon. Thank you to Mrs Davis' daughter for coming to help play the piano!

We then returned to school for some craft time, before sharing in our Christmas dinner, lovingly cooked by Lizzie. It was delicious!

After lunch Disco Steve joined us for our Christmas Disco. We were very pleased that Father Christmas found time to stop off and drop off some presents during his busy December. We sent him on his way with a round of jingle bells!

  • Carol Singing at Aspen Manor Care Home

    Wed 14 Dec 2022 M Davis

A small group of children enjoyed visiting Aspen Manor Care Home on Wednesday 14th December to share some Christmas Carols. The residents enjoyed the children's sing and enjoyed joining in with our traditional Carols. Thank you for inviting us. We hope to return to entertain you again soon!

  • Carols Around the Tree

    Fri 02 Dec 2022 M Davis

Friday evening saw the traditional Exton gathering around one of the community Christmas trees in Exton, where the school leads a community carol sing, and the lights on the trees are lit.

This year we were again hosted by the pub. There was lusty carol singing outside around the tree - and Mrs Davis remembered not to start Silent Night too high! We were then welcomed into the pub to share in mince pies and mulled wine.

Thank you to all those who were able to come and sing, to David Healey and his team for putting up the Christmas trees and to Christina and Simon at the pub for providing the refreshments and continuing to support the school.

The collection will be going towards developing an outdoor reading area in the nature area.

  • Year 3/4 RLT Football League

    Fri 02 Dec 2022 M Davis

A huge congratulations to our year 3/4 football team for another evening of fantastic football. Mrs Ranson reported that you played really well and represented the school brilliantly. There were some very close games, and the team put in a huge effort - including some very near misses from our team!

As ever, sportsmanship was great between the team and with other teams, and two teachers from other schools commentated on our great passing - they really worked as a team!

As ever, thank you to those friends and family who helped transport the team and were excellent supporters!
