Recorder Celebration Day
Thu 13 Mar 2014250 primary school recorder players playing together have to be heard to be believed! We joined up with 8 other primary schools in Rutland to play together. Last year we were a pilot recorder school for the Rutland Music Hub. We now all learn recorder at KS2 and we were delighted to join with other schools to meet Sarah Watts, who wrote the book we learn from, and to play some of her pieces together with her conducting. We were able to play with a live band, including a sousaphone! As ever, the children were a credit to the school and were a delight to be with. Their singing and playing was fantastic too! -

Community Lunch
Thu 13 Feb 2014The local community joined us to enjoy another delicious community lunch prepared by Lizzie. After enjoying roast beef followed by peach melba cheese cake our visitors were entertained by the children singing topically themed rain based songs and rhymes, as well as showing off our part singing!
The next community lunch is on Thursday 20th March at 1.30pm, and will be a Lenten lunch with soup as the main course. -

County Cross Country
Sat 08 Feb 2014Nearly half of our KS2 children took part in the County Cross Country Competition on Saturday. In bitter winds and very cold and wet conditions, they all did very well. A particular congratulations to Ben, who has been selected to represent Rutland for Year 6.
Many thanks to all the parents, family and friends who turned out to support, and in particular to our Chair of Governors, Alan Chalkley, who acted as a marshall and to Mrs KK who was the team leader. Thanks must also go to John and Penny Richardson who came to school each week to help with the training.
There are lots of pictures of our participants in the gallery in the children's section of the website. -
African Drumming Workshop
Fri 07 Feb 2014Wow! What a fantastic set of workshops we had this morning. Keba was amazing and taught us all sorts of African Drumming patterns as well as playing games and teaching us pieces. Thank you to Rutland Music Hub for organising his visit. We will definitely be borrowing the County set of drums to try some more on our own! -
Basketball
Wed 05 Feb 2014Congratulations to our fantastic team of year 5/6 pupils who came second in their section of the basketball competition! The team one two games and only lost the last by one basket. It was really close! Mrs KK and Mr Chalkley said that you were all a credit to the school in your playing, your sportsmanship and your behaviour!
Onwards and upwards - a slight change of skills is now needed ready for the netball competition in March! -
Peter Pan
Thu 09 Jan 2014The 2014 trip to the pantomime in Nottingham was a great success! Peter Pan was full of special effects including flying and fireworks. The children joined in with gusto in the traditional responses, and Kate even went up on stage to sing a verse of Old MacDonald. It is always lovely to hear positive comments about our children when 'out and about'. Many people who were sitting around the school at Nottingham Theatre Royal complimented the children on their fantastic behaviour. The staff also agreed that the children were a pleasure to take out... more trips are planned! -
Cross Country training
Wed 08 Jan 2014Mrs K-K and Mr and Mrs Richardson are bravely taking the children out in all weathers each Wednesday morning in preparation for the County Cross Country. It is great that so many children are taking part and are keen to run. We are indebted to the talents of our staff and parents who help us to develop the children's skills in different areas. Don't forget your trainers! -
