Latest News

Read below to find out more about some of the different activities we have been getting up to; from sporting and musical activities, to visitors and 'wow' days. We are looking forward to helping our children 'explore and grow' further in 2025-26.

  • Christmas Breakfast and afternoon disco

    Fri 20 Dec 2013
    Non-uniform and toy day
Our end of term celebrations started off with a breakfast for the children all for £1! In the afternoon FOEG's put on a disco from 1.30pm -3.30pm for all Exton & Greetham School children. FOEG's kindly covered the cost of the disco and drinks. A great time was had by all!
  • Christmas in a day!

    Thu 19 Dec 2013
Our Christmas celebrations started with a church service in Exton Church. The weather was kind to us and we walked up from the school to the church. After the children shared the true meaning of Christmas with the congregation, Marcus, the vicar, shared with us his own visit from Santa!
Back at school we then shared Christmas lunch, beautifully cooked by Lizzie. We are so lucky to have such a great cook who cooks all our meals fresh on site.
In the afternoon the staff hosted a party in the hall for the children. With old favourites such as Mrs Fowler's Four Corners, and a Strictly-style swingathon dance-off, great fun was had by all. We then received a special visitor who brought presents for all the children!
  • Christmas plays

    Tue 17 Dec 2013
    Wow!

There is no other word to describe our two Christmas plays this year!

The grumpy sheep was indeed very grumpy, until she discovered the true meaning of Christmas! With some super singing from all the children and some excellent narration by some of the older children in Key Stage 1, we soon learnt the importance of the birth of Jesus.

Our pantomime this year was Robin Hood and his Merry Men (and Women), written for the children by the staff. The children came into their own with some excellent acting and singing, and the audience enjoyed 'booing' and 'ahhing' in all the right places! It is a delight to write plays for the children as they enjoy playing for laughs and thinking about their characters.

    Well done to all involved.
  • Carols around the tree

    Fri 06 Dec 2013
This year's carols around the tree was another enormous success. A huge thanks to Sandra and Valter at the Fox and Hounds pub for providing us with delicious mulled wine. There was a huge turn out from the local community, and the children led the singing with great gusto. Over £140 was raised through our collecting buckets, which will be ploughed straight back into the work of the school.
  • Craft Afternoon

    Thu 05 Dec 2013
The craft afternoon was an enormous success with half the school attending. Many thanks to our parents who organised the afternoon and supervised the crafty activities. Who knew that shaving foam and glue could produce amazing snowmen?!
  • Bingo and Spud Night!

    Fri 15 Nov 2013
Many thanks to all the members of FOEGs who helped organise and contributed towards are Bingo and Spud Night. A lot of fun was had by all who attended, and the spuds and fillings were delicious! Over £360 was raised towards FOEGs funds, which go directly to support the work we do with the children in school.
  • Children In Need

    Fri 15 Nov 2013
The children all looked warm and cosy in their onesies and pyjamas, raising money for Children in Need! Key Stage 2 made cakes, which were then sold at afternoon play. Some of Reception made massaging rollers from their stickle bricks, and treated Mrs Davis and Mrs KK to a lovely relaxing massage! All of these activities led to £60 being raised for Children in Need. Many thanks to all who contributed.
  • Parent Lunch

    Thu 14 Nov 2013

Many thanks to all the parents who came and joined us for lunch today. Lizzie did a stirling job and we all enjoyed a roast chicken main course followed by chocolate sponge and custard.

We are so lucky to have all our meals cooked fresh every day on site. Hopefully you will have been as impressed with quality of the food on offer as we are!

  • TAG Rugby Tournament

    Wed 13 Nov 2013
Well done to all the year 5/6 children who took part in the inter-school TAG Rugby tournament. It is always lovely when staff and parents return from sports events and comment on the lovely manners and great sportsmanship that you all show. Four matches were played; we won one and lost three. However, lots of tactics were learnt, and we are looking forward to a rematch, after further training, in March!
  • Remembrance Day

    Mon 11 Nov 2013
Key Stage 2 joined a group of people from Exton village for the village Act of Remembrance at the war memorial. The names of the fallen were read, and some children shared the poems they had written in response to 'In Flander's Fields'. This annual event is very important to the school and we are pleased to be able to join with the village to remember those who have died and are still fighting in the Armed Forces.
