Community Lunch
Thu 17 Oct 2013Thank you to all the people who attended our Community lunch on Thursday. Lizzie's stew was delicious and the treacle tart went down well too.
Everyone enjoyed the children's singing, from our youngest singing some of their Harvest songs, to the Key Stage 2 children singing some new songs they have been learning, and even taking us on a Roller Ghoster ride!
Many thanks to the local businesses who contributed prizes towards the raffle. We raised £40 which will go towards improving our school playground painting.
The next community lunch is on Thursday 12th December at 1.30pm and will be Christmas dinner. Book early to reserve your place! -
Non-uniform day for the Air Ambulance
Fri 11 Oct 2013On Friday 11th October we held a non-uniform day to raise funds for the Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance as they celebrate their 10th anniversary. Putting this together with the money we raised in the summer term we will be handing over a cheque for £120. For a small school this is a great achievement. -
Harvest Festival
Thu 03 Oct 2013Our harvest festival was a great community event, and we were pleased to welcome many parents and people from the local community to join us. This year we focussed on Harvest in the UK, with Key Stage 1 acting out a story and singing some songs, and Key Stage 2 sharing what they have been learning about the farming year.
Our collection for the Rutland Food Bank meant that we were able to hand over more than 75 tins and packets to help support those in the local community who need help putting food on the table for their families. -
A visit from the Bishop of Brixworth
Fri 27 Sep 2013On Friday 27th September we were pleased to welcome the Bishop of Brixworth to our assembly. He bought all of his robes, and we were able to see him 'get dressed' while he explained why Bishop's wear purple, why they then cover this with white robes, why they wear a stole and also look at his Bishop's staff and mitre. Mrs Davis even learnt things, even though she grew up in a vicarage!
Before he went, the Bishop bravely answered our many questions. Key Stage One were most interested in how he travelled; while Key Stage Two had plenty of questions about his job and what he did all day!
Many thanks to Clare Hitchcox for bringing the Bishop to us from Greetham. We hope he enjoyed the rest of his weekend in the Cottesmore team of churches! -
