Term 3

Term 3 is set to be another exciting term.

During this term, we are going to have an overarching topic of 'The Frozen Planet'. Through our topic, in history we will be learning about famous explorers that have ventured to the South Pole. We will be looking closely at Captain Robert Falcon Scott and his journey of trying to be the first person to reach the South Pole. We will be using our science and learning about materials to find out about what Explorers need to wear and choosing the best materials for different items. Geography will focus on the weather in the UK and if it the same as other places around the world. They will learn about the Equator and what this means for the North and South Pole.

In Maths, EYFS will be composing numbers to 9 as well as becoming more fluent in our knowledge of recalling facts to 5. Learning will also include an understanding of capacity and mass. We will be using this in our everyday continuous provision in different scenarios. Year 1 will be solidifying our place value knowledge of place value to 20 and addition and subtraction to 20.

Our English focus books are: Paddington Bear (recounts) and Poles Apart for a Setting Description. EYFS will be developing their writing and with support will be writing cv and cvc words and orally composing captions and learning to hold it in our memories. We will continue to have a focus on forming our letters correctly. This is something you can practice together at home.

I look forward to another super term!
