Passover Assembly
On Thursday we welcomed Mrs Linda Edwards into school to talk to us about her Jewish faith and tell us about the festival of Passover. Mrs Edwards is one of our governors and we always look forward to her visits!
Mrs Edwards explained to us all the story of Passover and how the Jewish people escaped. We heard about the ten plagues, and discovered that there are quite a lot of first born children in our school! She showed us her special Seder plate and talked about all of the items it contained and their significance. We were able to taste some matzah, which is a bit like a cracker. Mrs Edwards told us what she and her family had done for their meal last Friday to mark the beginning of Passover. Some of us thought that playing hide and seek looking for the Afikoman (one of the matzah) sounded a lot of fun.
At the end of the assembly Mrs Edwards shared some cinnamon cakes with us, which are made without using any flour.
Thank you for coming to share your faith with us Mrs Edwards, we really enjoyed finding out about the Jewish religion.
