Irthlingborough Diary - Day One to Five

Day One

All the children were excited to arrive at Irthlingborough, and were excited to find out who they were in group with. Once lunch was over it was the first activities, for some Archery and for others abseiling. Whichever they took part in, they had a great time.

It was then the exciting business of finding out what room you were in, and making the bed. For some this proved more tricky than others. After an excellent dinner we took a walk to the adventure playground, which the children loved.

They were then safely tucked up in bed with hot chocolate by 9.00. We are all looking forward to a great day on Tuesday.

Day Two

An early start proved a bit of a shock for some of our children, but we did all manage to get to breakfast at eight. After this we took part in The Maze activity, running around a giant labyrinth. This was greatly enjoyed by everyone.

After lunch we took part in Open Canoeing, where most people (including Mrs. Heyward) managed to get soaked. After a quick shower, it was time for dinner.

After dinner we spent our time deliberating over what wonders to buy from the tuck shop, and preparing for the camp fire talent show tomorrow.

Day Three

Warm but cloudy today, but this lack of sun didn't spoil anyones fun. In the morning (and looking a little bit tired) we took part in abseiling or high ropes. Both of these activities were scary, but really challenged the the children to push themselves.

After lunch we took part in raft making. In this the children managed to get themselves soaked again.

In the evening there was a campfire, and a huge game of rounders to pass the time. Everyone went to bed tired but extremely happy.

Day Four

A morning walk to the adventure playground was a great start to the day, and all the children had a really good time charging around the different areas there.

After lunch the High Ropes, Raft Making and Archery entertained the children in the afternoon with each different group taking part in a different activity. All the children did well and had a great time, many challenging themselves on to complete the activity.

After dinner there was a quiz with prizes for all the groups, which everyone took very seriously. Popcorn and hot chocolate followed and then bed.....

Day Five

An early start with beds needing to be stripped and cases packed (or in some cases stuffed) was how Friday started. It was then time for a walk down to the nearby Assault Course for everybody. The weather was really hot, so we made sure we found some shade.

Then it was lunch, followed by a quiet and tired trip home...

A great trip was had by both children and teachers alike!
