Easter in a Day
Wed 27 Mar 2024What a fantastic 'Easter Day' we had!
'Easter in a Day' is a great Exton & Greetham tradition, and this year was as successful as previous years, despite the variable weather!
We started the day with a visit to Greetham Church, where Cobalt class led us through the Easter story, interspersed with lusty singing from the whole school. A huge thank you to the church for providing delicious treats and drinks afterwards!
We then returned to school to decorate our eggs, before settling down for Easter lunch.
In the afternoon, we had our traditional egg rolling in the hall. Well done to everyone for remembering to hard boil their eggs. There were some closely fought contests in each year group, and some very agile children moving out of the way of the unpredictable rolling eggs!
It was then time to hunt for creme eggs in the classrooms, before the sun came out to enable us to partake in egg and spoon races before hometime.
An 'eggciting' day for all!

Artsmark Discover Award
Sun 24 Mar 2024Just before Christmas, alongside children from Glapthorn and Polebrook schools, our Year 6 Arts Ambassadors took part in the Artsmark Discover Award. This consisted of them exploring different art forms, and then choosing one to explore in greater depth. They then looked to create their own piece of art work and then worked with others to review the work they had done. All three children did a fab job, and received their certificates from Trinity in our celebration assembly. Well done to all!

Football Tournament
Fri 22 Mar 2024Mrs Ranson reports some superb football playing by both our year 3/4 and our year 5/6 football teams in the March round of the RLT football tournament. Whilst there were no wins- everybody agreed that the children's performance was much improved. They very much held their own and only lost by one or two goals in each match. Mrs Ranson reports that passing was more accurate and there was fearless tackling. There were a number of shots at the goal, which were artfully defended by opposing goal keepers.
With five matches for each year group, and only 1 sub for each team, our outfield players kept going with amazing stamina. There were also some amazing saves by our goalies. Well done to everyone concerned.

Purim Assembly
Tue 19 Mar 2024On Tuesday, Mrs Edward (one of our school governors) came to join us for an assembly about Purim, a Jewish festival. We enjoyed hearing the story of Queen Esther - and especially enjoyed using all of the musical instruments to cover up the name of Haman! Mrs Edward often visits to share with us the stories behind different Jewish festivals, and it was lovely to hear a new story this morning!

Visit from Alicia Kearns MP
Fri 15 Mar 2024We had a visit today from our MP, Alicia Kearns, who came to talk to Teal class about democracy as part of their PSHE. She also took the opportunity to look around the school. She was very impressed with how calm and productive the classrooms were and with the questions that Teal class asked. Maybe we have some futurepoliticians in the making!

Comic Relief
Fri 15 Mar 2024A huge thank you to our school council for all of their hard work sorting activities for fundraising for Comic Relief today.
We all enjoyed wearing red or our home clothes for the day, and lots of children took part in the 'comedy shoot out' at lunchtime.
All of the jokes entered in the competition were gratefully received - and the winners are below, for your entertainment!
We raised just over £170, which is fantastic for our little school!

World Book Day
Fri 08 Mar 2024Exton & Greetham CE Primary School celebrated World Book Day a day late this year, to prevent dressing up clashing with swimming!
This year the theme was 'bedtime stories' and all of the children were invited to come in their pyjamas or onesies for the day. The day started with a reading breakfast in the hall, where there were many books to read and toast to share. Parents were invited to join us, and it was lovely to see the hall so full of people sharing and enjoying books together.
The rest of the day was spent in activities in the classrooms.
