  • Aqua Class Theatre Visit

    Tue 23 Apr 2024 M Davis

Aqua Class enjoyed a visit to Uppingham Theatre to see a musical version of 'Charlie Cook's Favourite Book' by Julia Donaldson.

Charlie loves reading. Especially books about pirates. But his sister hates it – it’s boring! Can Charlie convince her that reading is fun? Perhaps if she read a book about a pirate, who is reading a book about Goldilocks, who is reading a book about a knight…

Alongside children from other primary schools, we delved delve into a range of books with Charlie Cook, brought to life with puppetry and enchanting songs. Eventually, alongside Charlie's sister, we discovered the wonderful world inside a book…

A huge thank you to Uppingham School for hosting the production and inviting us to see it. The children all had a fantastic time, enjoying not only the theatre experience, but also having a trip out on a coach and seeing the sights of Rutland on the way!

  • Year 4 Residential

    Mon 15 Apr 2024 M Davis

Year 4, Mrs Larratt and Mrs Creed all had an amazing time on their residential this week.

Residentials are a wonderful opportunity for children to develop their independence - not just in being away from home, but also in trying new activities and taking themselves outside of their comfort zone.

This year, the Year 4 residential was again at Hilltop, in Sherringham. The outdoor centre is set in picturesque woodlands overlooking the coast.

During their three days the children had the opportunity to take part in an array of exciting adventure activities, including: high ropes courses, zip wires and archery.

Favourite activities included: ‘the big zipper - I did it twice’ ‘making it to the top of the vertical challenge’ ‘balancing on the seesaw in the team tasks’ ‘bikes because we got to do the big bumps and jumps’.

We are always proud of the children at our school - but we were particularly proud of all the year 4 children for the comments adults received on how polite and kind our children are. What wonderful ambassadors they are for our school! We are also proud of individuals for facing their own particular fears - whether that was staying away from home, having a go at something they never thought they would do, or knowing their limits and being brave enough to say no!

A huge thank you to Mrs Larratt and Mrs Creed for giving up their time to accompany the children and give them such a wonderful experience; and thank you to the other schools and staff members in RLT for enabling us to join with them on this adventure.
