First Aid Training
At the end of the day on Wednesday 3rd June it looked like there had been a terrible incident at school. Fear not! The many bandages and slings that went home were the result of some fantastic first aid training given to all the children by 'Disco Steve' the paramedic.
The day started with some basic first aid skills shared with reception and KS1. KS2 then had the rest of the day to develop their own skills in CPR and basic first aid. They were reminded what to do in an emergency to ensure that everyone is kept safe until the emergency services arrive. They were then guided through how to keep someone breathing and were able to practice on three different sized dummies; a baby, a child and an adult. The afternoon was then spent looking at how to use an epipen safely, and then looking at how to bandage different sorts of injuries and correctly put on a sling.
Many thanks to Steve for providing this valuable educational experience. Photos to follow.
