Easter in a Day

Easter in a Day happened a little earlier in the last week of term this year, as our Year 4 were off on their residential on the Wednesday.

This year our Easter service took place in Exton Church. We enjoyed the walk up to church in the spring sunshine, before Cobalt class led us in a re-telling of the Easter story. This was interspersed with Easter songs which helped bring the story to life. Rev. Anthony then shared some thoughts with us about Easter before we joined together in singing 'Lord of the Dance'. The church had very kindly laid on refreshments, and 'Real' Easter eggs for each of the children, from the church, were waiting back at school.

Back at school there was time to decorate our eggs before lunch, ready for the afternoon competitions.

The afternoon kicked off with our now traditional egg rolling in the school hall. The competitions were fiercely battled and the children did well to move out of the way of the rolling eggs when they came in their direction. A huge thank you to all the parents who had made sure all eggs were hard boiled!

We then moved outside for the FOEGS Easter egg hunt, which was laid out by Miss Lynch and Mrs Honan. There was much searching, but everyone found their three eggs, and one child from each class was lucky enough to find an egg with a 'golden ticket'.

The day was rounded off with our egg and spoon races.... no prizes this time, but playing for the honour of crossing the finishing line with an intact egg!

What a cracking day!
